Onam

Onam is the biggest festival in the Indian state of Kerala. Onam Festival falls during the Malayali month of Chingam (Aug - Sep) and marks the homecoming of legendary King Mahabali. Carnival of Onam lasts for ten days and brings out the best of Kerala culture and tradition. Intricately decorated Pookalam, ambrosial Onasadya, breathtaking Snake Boat Race and exotic Kaikottikali dance are some of the most remarkable features of Onam - the harvest festival in Kerala.

Rohtang Pass

Rohtang Pass (el. 3978 m./13,051 ft.), 51 Kms from Manali, is a high mountain pass that connects the Kullu Valley with the Lahul and Spiti valleys of Himachal Pradesh, India.
The pass is only open from June to September, has a well-deserved reputation for being very dangerous because of unpredictable snowstorms. In fact in the local language ,rohtang literally means the "pile of corpses".
The pass provides a natural cultural divide between the foothills and wet lowlands of northern India and its primarily Hindu culture, with the dry desert uplands north of the first range of the Himalayas and its mainly Buddhist and heavily Tibetan-influenced culture.
There is a small temple at the top of the pass with a spring that is the source of the Beas River.
The road through the Kullu Valley, past Manali and over the Rohtang Pass to Keylong, and Lahul and on to Ladakh, has become very busy during the summer months as a military route, because of the troubles in Kashmir which have meant that the road from Srinagar to Leh is now less used. Traffic jams (as pictured) are common occurrences caused by the inability of military vehicles, trucks, and goods carriers to navigate the tight roads and rough terrain, not to mention, snow and ice.
It was my first experience to be in such a cold place. In manali temperature was around 5 degree celcius, i thought that was terrible.... but rohtang pass.... it was cold.

a lil' bit about me

its been 2 decades... since i've come to this beautiful world... twenty years passed and i feel like life has just begun.... i still remember the day i went to kindergarten for the first time... i've studied in many schools in many places... i dont remember all the names... but i do remember faces of my friends and how it felt like when u had to leave them and go to another place.... but then.. i always liked travelling and going to new places and making new friends... some of the places i really liked was Wayand.... a cool hill-station, Calcutta...... though i dont like fast cities very much... calcutta gave me a lot of new experiences and memories.... now i am happy to be home in kerala, my house in a calm village... with the greenary around and soft chirping of birds and.... love to see the rain come down sitting in my balcony, listening to soft music.... but life has just begun and right now i've no idea where its gonna take me..

Childhood- The Spring Of Life

There is a garden in every childhood, an enchanted place where colors are brighter, the air softer, and the morning more fragrant than ever again. Childhood is a wonderful time.. a fantasy world of our own with our own ideas... curiosity... the pleasure and excitement of discovering something new... a world of dreams..
